The Marine People Manager NEU will be the escalation point of contact for our seafarers regarding all HR aspects throughout their employment with Maersk. In this role, the Marine People Manager NEU is responsible for creating, implementing, and continuously improving end-to-end Marine People and Culture (MPC) processes that align with the MPC Strategy. This includes fostering a strong, supportive relationship with seafarers and providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to a team that acts as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries. By doing so, the Marine People Manager NEU plays a critical role in ensuring that Maersk's seafarers feel valued, supported, and empowered throughout their employment journey.

Key responsibilities

As a Marine People NEU HR Crew Services Manager, you play a crucial role in overseeing the recruitment, performance management, talent management, leaves, and exit processes for our seafarers. In addition, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant national and international HR and crewing-related legislation and guidelines. To fulfill this role effectively, you will need to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in HR and crewing regulations and best practices, and continuously work to improve our processes and procedures. This includes maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring all processes are well-defined, efficient, and aligned with our organisational goals. By doing so, you will help us maintain a highly-skilled, motivated, and compliant workforce, while also supporting the success and growth of our business.

  • First point of contact for authorities and unions-related matters.
  • Maintain relationships with internal as well as external stakeholders.
  • Secure emergency response as needed under the Marine People NEU area.
  • Manager of the North Europe Marine People Team, ensuring high engagement and development of Maersk employees.
  • Handle all issues related to the team, including attracting, developing, and retaining high talents.
  • Support the Head of Marine People & Culture in ensuring aligned standards across all Marine People Teams globally.
  • Reinforce a culture of high performance in the team.
  • Take initiative and take a proactive approach to review and improve procedures and HR issues.
