Job Description
The Systems Architect must possess excellent communication skills, tact and effective listening skills. The position requires consistent follow through and the ability to anticipate questions while being prepared with answers or follow-up. The Systems Architect must have the ability to work independently with little to no supervision researching new technologies or comparing technologies to meet the customers need while providing an unbiased opinion; however, the Systems Architect must be a team player and be able to follow processes and procedures. The Systems Architect must be a self-disciplined, self-starting professional who can successfully bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversite.
Individuals pursuing this position need an extensive background in all aspects of Authentication / Certificate Authority technologies. They must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and leadership abilities. Candidates typically have a background in the development of enterprise-wide or large-scale information systems.
Typical Duties
  • Performing tier four architecture and engineering support
  • Assessing business and applications requirements for systems
  • Planning, designing and upgrading systems installation projects
  • Establishing and maintaining backup, version-control and malware defense systems
  • Troubleshooting network architecture and making recommendations for system repairs and enhancements
  • Making recommendations for leveraging system installations and reducing operational costs
  • Creating white papers and other professional documents which articulate requirements, capabilities and complex solutions
  • Developing and presenting briefings to high-level government stakeholders
  • Providing reports to Government IT managers
  • Assessing business and applications requirements for PKI and CA within the Global Enterprise network
  • Planning, designing and upgrading systems installation projects to include the hardware, software, virtual supporting infrastructure and hyper convergence supporting hardware
  • Establishing and maintaining backups, version-controls, and Root Certification Authority for the organization.
  • Troubleshooting network architecture and making recommendations for system repairs and enhancements to authentication mechanisms to include enhancing multifactor authentication.
  • Making recommendations for leveraging systems installations and reducing operational costs.
  • Lead Tiger Teams to ensure that effective troubleshooting methods are utilized
  • Subject Matter Expert in authentication systems for the organization
  • Create paths for the integration of other products into the PKI platform using proven deployment procedures
  • Understand how to manage and log certificate utilization.
  • Must have LDAP, DNS and active directory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PKI concepts, patterns and practices
  • Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft Certificate Services and related components
  • Experience with certificate-enabled applications, such as SSL/TLS, S/MIME, authentication, EFS, 802.1X, Code Signing, etc.
  • General understanding of cryptographic concepts: symmetric/asymmetric cryptography, secure hash, digital signatures
  • Experience with Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) Certificate Management
  • Smart card or security token experience
  • Scripting skills is desired

The position requires professional level experience in designing and implementing enterprise level systems and scalable solutions as well as designing and implementing systems management tools to include centralized configuration tools, monitoring tools and management tools.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, a Mathematics-intensive discipline, or a similar field is recommended. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Years: 15
Description: Experience in IT-related discipline
Required Certification: Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.
