In this role, you will join our Compliance team, comprising four awesome colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences. The team works closely together, providing daily support, collaboration, and sparring with each other - sprinkled with lots of laughs! 

The team’s primary purpose is to help InCommodities colleagues navigate the complex regulation that affects trading in the energy markets, which is increasingly done using algorithmic tools. Their activities range from conducting training sessions and addressing questions from regulators and exchanges to advising our traders and ensuring compliance with market regulations. They also stay abreast of new market rules, develop, and implement tools to support compliant trading practices and assess the potential impact of future regulations on our business operations. In short, the team is dynamic and engaging, and there is never a dull moment in their work.

Your journey as a Student Analyst

As a Student Analyst, you will bring new skills to the team and support the journey of pioneering our compliance program and activities. You will do this by investigating how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning techniques can help the team excel in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment. Using your analytical and problem-solving skills, you will analyze and prototype automated compliance solutions and, where applicable, liaise with our software development team to deploy them. Additionally, you will support the team in monitoring the trading surveillance system to ensure that our trading activities meet internal and external requirements. 

We don’t expect you to know about or have experience within compliance and therefore, we will provide you with a thorough, structured, and “on-the-job” training in close collaboration with your colleagues. Moreover, we will ensure you get the best possible onboarding into your role, the team, and the organization. 

In this position, you are expected to work at least 15 hours per week. We, of course, offer flexible working hours so you have the best opportunity to work and manage your studies without compromising any of them.

Responsibilities

  • Research AI and automation techniques applicable to the compliance program
  • Develop prototypes of tools relevant for the compliance program
  • Collaborate with software development teams to transition successful concepts into production tools for the compliance program
  • Integrate outputs into compliance governance and reporting processes
  • Maintain and optimize AI and automated tools in the compliance program
  • Support with the daily monitoring of the trading surveillance system

Qualifications – we imagine that you:

  • Have completed a bachelor’s degree in e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, IT Product Development, Engineering, or similar and are studying for a Master’s degree in an equivalent field (ideally with two year’s left)
  • Have experience with programming languages, preferably Python and SQL
  • Possess abilities within analysis, problem-solving and prototyping 
  • Are passionate about automation and process improvement 
  • Are fluent in English – both written and oral – Danish is not a requirement
