Job Description

Plant Analyst

Location: Cramlington, Northumberland

Salary: Circa £50,000 per year

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Job Purpose:

To provide analytical financial support to the Supply Chain & Operations in the Cramlington plant to ensure local finance and operational objectives are met and to support the Plant Controller in maintaining robust budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes to maintain cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

General:
  • Make safety a number one priority
  • Build strong relationships with Operations
  • Ad Hoc requests

Operations Business Support:
  • Provide financial analysis and support for the Plant Productivity stream
  • Drive loss reporting and support investigating variances as required
  • Provide analysis to support cost centre owners' understanding of variances
  • Provide analysis to support SC&Ops with inventory management
  • Complete the capital reporting and investment appraisals to support AFEs

Financial Planning & Analysis:
  • Support the completion of the AOP process for Cramlington for MOE, losses and S,G&A
  • Support of quarterly forecasts

Month End reporting:
  • Complete the losses and inventory adjustments accounting for the plant to ensure the costs are accurately stated
  • Support the cost centre reviews for month end close
  • Complete the month reporting, including losses and savings tracker in Cramlington
  • Provide explanations to the SSC to assist in their understanding of the Cramlington operations and completion of the Statutory accounts and tax returns
  • Manpower reporting and Bonus accruals

Financial Controls:
  • Ensure SOX compliance Process owner for Inventory Controls
  • Maintain and report Cramlington cycle count accuracy
  • Ensure costs are accounted for in accordance with the AD financial handbook

Process Transformation:
  • Support the Plant Controller in identifying and implementing process improvements in operations finance and collaborate with the SSC/Accenture
  • Support the implementation of key BI initiatives across operations in Cramlington
  • Support the culture of continuous improvement in Cramlington and participate as necessary in SC&Ops projects and plant strategic planning

Engagement and Motivation:
  • Take responsibility for and pursue professional and personal development in line with development plan
  • Build collaborative working relationships across the SC&Ops organisation in Cramlington, in particular with the plant leadership team and operations coordinators
  • Support the increased use of ELS in the finance function
  • Support the training of SC&Ops in EVA concepts and decision making tools (including GP analysis)


Qualifications

Knowledge, Training and Experience:

Essential:
  • Educated to degree level and professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ICAEW)
  • 1-3 years post qualification experience in industry (preferably manufacturing) or blue-chip accounting firm
  • Advanced user of Excel and Google Sheets
  • Ability to work in a fast paced Finance environment in a UK manufacturing site of a Multinational organisation
  • Able to develop effective working relationships
  • Must be persuasive / assertive with a can do attitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Dynamic and proactive
  • Detail conscious
  • Results driven

Desirable:
  • Use of Google Apps
  • Knowledge of Oracle E-Business
  • Knowledge of QAD, COGNOS, TM1, Magma
