Job Description
Purpose:
AbbVie aspires to build an industry leading data ecosystem, that can drive insight generation and operational efficiencies to deliver medicines to our patients safer and faster. In order to achieve this, we are designing a data strategy which includes a data governance structure and operating model that supports and drives a data driven organization.
The Sr. Associate, Business Insights (BI) role is a key technical support role to enable the application of advanced analytics across clinical development operations processes and identifying internal and external data trends to drive business value and actionable insights. This role will support the monitoring of these trends and identify underlying leading / lagging clinical trial performance indicators, in support of the BI team. This role will work across the Clinical Trial Management Ecosystem (CTME) and the executive dashboard (VISION) team to continuously enhance the existing ecosystem, driving cross-functional alignment with R&D business functions and with Business Technology Solutions (BTS).
Responsibilities:
  • Enables data-driven insights to support of BI and CDO activities
  • Partner with and support the BI team to proactively identify trending and review analytics to drive action steps
  • Communicate context, insights and objective analysis to BI team to support decision making
  • Present key findings and insights at BI team meetings with additional analysis as required, anticipating/identifying issues that could affect timelines or quality and develops options and solutions
  • Proactively work with relevant industry benchmarks / trends aligned to AbbVie’s pipeline
  • Maintain knowledge of current systems (i.e. Tesla, Veeva Vault, etc.) and alignment to existing business processes. ;
  • Support the business in ensuring proper ongoing use of the system, leveraging metrics and IR information to system use behavior is as intended;
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and value creation by using objective data-based evidence
  • Bring critical insights for review in support of study team issues, anticipating/identifying issues that could affect timelines/quality and develops potential solutions
  • Conduct ad-hoc short-term consulting projects to answer critical questions from leadership
  • Ensures consistency on insight generation and analysis across assigned therapeutic area

Ensures adherence to federal regulations and applicable local regulations, Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), ICH Guidelines, AbbVie Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and to functional quality standards. Stays abreast of new and/or evolving local regulations, guidelines and policies related to clinical development
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science or equivalent field with 4+ years (BS), 2+ years (MS) or 0+ years (PhD) of related experience
  • Intermediate-level proficiency in R, SAS or other statistical packages.
  • Intermediate proficiency with visualization tools like Spotfire, Tableau or equivalent
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts in layman’s terms
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectively

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​
